Apple Original Films' What Happens At Night Begins Principal Photography

From master director Martin Scorsese and starring Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio, Apple Original Films’ What Happens At Night begins principal photography.

Apple Original Films has announced that principal photography for Martin Scorsese’s “What Happens at Night” has begun. Additionally, they unveiled a first look at the highly anticipated feature starring and produced by Academy Award-winners Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence. Filming is underway in the Czech Republic, with support from the Czech Film Commission.

Hailing from Apple Studios and made in partnership with STUDIOCANAL, the dream-like story follows a married American couple. They travel to a small, snowy European town to adopt a baby. The feature is adapted from the novel of the same name by Peter Cameron.

The cast of “What Happens at Night” also includes Patricia Clarkson, Mads Mikkelsen, Jared Harris, and Welker White.

BEHIND THE CAMERA

Scorsese will direct and produce for Sikelia Productions. DiCaprio, Lawrence, and Daniel Lupi also serve as producers. Executive producers are Lisa Frechette and Marianne Bower for Sikelia. Additionally, Jennifer Davisson produces for Appian Way, and Justine Ciarrocchi for Excellent Cadaver.

STUDIOCANAL acquired the rights to develop WHAT HAPPENS AT NIGHT (a novel by Peter Cameron), originally announcing the project in 2023. Anna Marsh, Shana Eddy Grouf, and Aaron Ensweiler executive produce for STUDIOCANAL.

THE LATEST COLLABORATION

“What Happens at Night” marks the latest collaboration for Scorsese, DiCaprio, and Apple Original Films following the history-making and 10-time Academy Award-nominated feature “Killers of the Flower Moon.” Lawrence has collaborated with Apple Original Films on projects including “Causeway” and “Bread & Roses,” along with the upcoming murder mystery feature “The Wives” in which she is set to star and produce.
