The movie ACME doesn’t want you to see is finally coming to theaters as Ketchup Entertainment releases the trailer for Coyote Vs. ACME!
It’s happened! It’s FINALLY happened! Back in 2023, Warner Bros shelved the live-action/ animation hybrid movie Coyote Vs ACME to obtain a tax write-off. The film, although completed and ready for release, seemed like it would be lost forever. It remained locked away in the Warner vaults, destined never to see the light of day.. Then Warners changed their mind. Instead of denying the public and the Looney Tunes fans of the film, they decided to shop it around to other studios. This is the same way they did with The Day The Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie. And yet again, it was Ketchup Entertainment who obtained the film. They are planning to give the film a theatrical release.
That time is almost upon us. On August 28th, Coyote Vs ACME will be hitting movie screens. The film stars Will Forte, Lana Condor, and John Cena. Dave Green directs the film, while Samy Burch takes on the writing, basing her script on a story by Burch, James Gunn, and Jeremy Slater. The film looks to be exactly what the fans wanted. The film follows Wile E. Coyote as he sues the Acme Corporation for repeatedly selling him allegedly faulty products. Praise the animation gods! The trailer for the film is out today!
THE PREMISE
After every product made by the Acme Corporation has backfired on Wile E. Coyote in his pursuit of the Road Runner, down-and-out human billboard attorney Kevin Avery represents Coyote in a lawsuit against Acme. A growing friendship between Coyote and Kevin motivates their determination to win the court case, as it pits them against Buddy Crane, the intimidating boss of Kevin’s former law firm, who now represents Acme.
THOUGHTS
Ok, I’m SO on board with this! Being a lifelong Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies fan, this is MY kind of entertainment. Something I can sit back with, not criticize too much, and allow myself to simply have fun with. Considering I can’t watch The Bugs Bunny/ Road Runner Movie without breaking down in fits of side-splitting laughter at the Road Runner/ Wile E. Coyote segment, I think I could be in trouble. After watching the trailer, it is exactly the kind of film I could sit and watch over and over again and not feel the least bit guilty about. Considering the trailer pokes fun at Warner Bros, and the cameos from some of the other classic characters, this could be the film I enjoy the most this year.
Coyote Vs ACME will run riot in theaters on August 28th.
