Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2 Emerges From the Force in Early 2027

Disney has announced that Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 2 won’t be released on Disney+ until early 2027.

Sad news, Star Wars fans, because Disney has announced the long-awaited second season of Star Wars: Ahsoka won’t be debuting on Disney+ until early 2027. Fans had been hoping for their first look at a Star Wars Day trailer. But sadly, the studio has chosen to delay its release until the New Year. The announcement came today at Disney’s upfront presentation. Here’s the official word.

SEASON 2

After three-plus years wandering the galaxy, Ahsoka has a (rough) return date on Disney+.

The second season of the Star Wars series is set to premiere in early 2027, star Rosario Dawson announced Tuesday at Disney’s upfront presentation. She also introduced a behind-the-scenes reel showcasing some of the making of season two.

Ahsoka premiered in August 2023 and drew solid viewing figures for Disney+, making Nielsen’s top 10 original streaming series every week it debuted new episodes. A second season went into development in early 2024, but between then and now, Lucasfilm scaled back its live-action Star Wars series projects. In the past 18 months, the kid-focused Skeleton Crew and the second and final season of Andor have been the only live-action shows from a galaxy far, far away. Star Wars‘ animation output has been more robust, most recently with Maul — Shadow Lord.

REVIEWS

We had an absolute blast with the first season and cannot wait to immerse ourselves in the brilliance of Season 2. In my FIVE-STAR REVIEW, I said this of the series: “One should never doubt Dave Filoni. George Lucas’ star pupil has delivered the definitive Star Wars series here. The premiere episodes are almost flawless. The combination of an engaging story, glorious cinematography, stunning visuals, a sensational orchestral soundtrack, and a directorial style on par with the maker himself, makes Star Wars: Ahsoka Dave Filoni’s magnum opus. And if this is a glimpse at what Filoni is capable of, then Star Wars can look forward to a promising future. One that has all the hallmarks and visual flair of George Lucas’s influence.” Read the full review here.
