The Walt Disney Company UK and Ireland Launches ‘The Magic of Movies: Escape to Another World’ Short Film to Support Charity Partner MediCinema. Feel the Force of The Mandalorian and Grogu.

Tied to the theatrical release of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, The Walt Disney Company UK and Ireland today debuts its latest short film, “Escape to Another World”, as part of year two of Disney’s “The Magic of Movies” campaign. The campaign supports one of its long-term charity partners, MediCinema. Furthermore, it aims to raise awareness of the power of the big screen for NHS hospital patients and generate support for the charity. You can watch it below:

It will also be shown in Vue cinemas nationwide ahead of select screenings of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu from today, 22 May.

The 70-second Mandalorian-themed short film, created in collaboration with Feref and produced by Tinderflint, celebrates joy, wonder, and the magic of cinema, while encouraging audiences to support this special charity.

The film follows a young Star Wars fan in a hospital, who escapes into the Star Wars universe while watching the latest release at MediCinema. On a journey back through his imagination, we return to his hospital bed, where an invitation to MediCinema’s special screening of The Mandalorian and Grogu eases his anxiety. A powerful reminder of the comfort, connection, and escapism cinema can bring to those who need it most.

MEDICINEMA

MediCinema is the UK charity that builds and runs cinemas inside hospitals equipped with space for beds, wheelchairs, and medical equipment. Through free screenings, they bring the magic of movies and the power of cinema directly to patients and their loved ones, reducing anxiety and providing a sense of normality during what can be challenging times on the wards.
