To stop a killing machine, you must become one. The first trailer and posters for Adam Wingard’s Onslaught deliver thrills, spills, action, and violence.
Ok, here’s the thing. I have a soft spot for the original Universal Soldier. The film had just enough of a combination of violence, action, plot, and fight scenes to keep an action movie fan happy. With a hint of science fiction to boot, the film was enjoyable enough. The sequels could never reach the heights of the original movie. This is simply because the genie was out of the bottle, and we knew what to expect. Now, though, director Adam Wingard is bringing us Onslaught. The film hits screens on September 4th. It looks and sounds like it fits perfectly into the vacuum left by Universal Soldier.
The film features a cast that includes Adria Arjona, Dan Stevens, Eric Wareheim, Reginald VelJohnson, the legendary (and FOTF Team favorite) Michael Biehn, Alex Pereira, Drew Starkey, and Rebecca Hall. It tells the story of a mother living in a trailer park who struggles to protect her family from a threat that has escaped from a secret military facility. The film’s first trailer has just dropped, showcasing intense scenes filled with violence and strong language. Viewer discretion is highly advised.
THE PREMISE
When a rogue squad of genetically engineered super soldiers breaks loose in the desert, a badass Army sniper must unleash hell to protect her young daughter.
Adam Wingard directs the film, as well as providing the story for the film alongside Simon Barrett. Barrett contributed the screenplay. The film will be distributed by A24.
Onslaught hits theaters on September 4th!
