Moana: New Along The Way Featurette Unleashes the Music!

Get a brand-new look behind the scenes at the development and recording of “Along The Way,” the stunning new song from Disney’s live-action Moana.

We are under one month away from uniting with Maui in Disney’s live-action Moana, and the marketing campaign has officially set sail. Last week saw the release of a treasure trove of new posters for the film. But today, the studio has upped the ante with a brand-new behind-the-scenes look at the development and recording of “Along The Way,” the stunning new song from the film. Featuring new interviews with Lin-Manuel Miranda and filmmakers, along with Catherine Lagaʻaia, Auli‘i Cravalho, and Dwayne Johnson, the piece celebrates the union of three iconic voices from “Moana.”

The song is written by GRAMMY, Emmy, and Tony Award-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda and performed by Catherine Laga‘aia, who joins Auli‘i Cravalho in a landmark musical conversation between two generations of Moana. In a bold and imaginative creative swing, the song brings the live-action and animated heroines together, allowing their voices to intertwine in a way that celebrates the character’s enduring legacy. THE SOUNDTRACK

The “Moana” Original Soundtrack releases June 26 and features original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foaʻi and Mark Mancina, including the all-new song, “Along The Way.” The soundtrack also will be available in ATMOS.

On July 8, the Deluxe version of the “Moana” Original Soundtrack will be available digitally and in ATMOS, and will feature the songs composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foaʻi and Mark Mancina, the Original Score composed by GRAMMY Award® winner Mark Mancina, as well as instrumental tracks. The Original Score album will be released July 10. In addition, on July 10, the Original Soundtrack (Songs) will be available on vinyl in multiple collectible versions.

On July 31, an album inspired by “Moana” and the music of the Pacific, titled “Moana: Voices Across The Ocean,” will be available digitally. Executive-produced by Dwayne Johnson, Lauren Hashian, Tiana Nonosina Liufau and Kayla Fa‘amaligi, the album features 15 tracks (14 original songs plus one cover song) from Pacific artists representing seven islands and cultures, including Stan Walker, Dinah Jane, Iam Tongi, Paula Fuga, Maoli and Common Kings, with more to be announced soon.

RELEASE

What a delightful and charming new song. Bringing Catherine Laga‘aia and Auli‘i Cravalho’s voices together to bridge the gap between the animated and live-action genres in a masterstroke. That, coupled with the iconic vocals of Dwayne Johnson, adds a new dimension to the live-action adventure, and we cannot wait to see how it turns out. Packed with charm, humor, and adventure, it looks like the perfect family film to enjoy with your kids. Let’s hope Dwayne Johnson can bring the magic and make Moana sing all the way to box office glory.
