Bleat that! Amazon MGM’s runaway smash hit The Sheep Detectives is officially heading to Prime Video on June 24, bringing the fan-favorite mystery comedy to streaming audiences worldwide.
Bleat that! After its successful theatrical run, Amazon MGM Studios’ The Sheep Detectives is finally heading to Prime Video. The murder-mystery comedy starring Hugh Jackman proved to be a hit with UK audiences, grossing around £10 million during its cinema release. But with the film now fading from the UK top 10, the studio has set June 24 as the premiere date on Prime Video.
The film follows a flock of sheep who wake up one day to discover their shepherd, played by Hugh Jackman, has been killed. However, these are no ordinary sheep—they are sentient, sharp-witted, and avid fans of murder mysteries. Armed with their unusual intellect and detective skills, they set out to uncover the truth and catch the real killer. Sounds like a banger, right?

We were fortunate enough to get an early look at the film, and had a blast with its sheepish blend of action and comedy. In my ★★★☆☆ review, I said: “The Sheep Detectives is a blast. With another brilliant performance from Hugh Jackman, great voice performances from Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Patrick Stewart, and Chris O’Dowd, and an often dark, engaging storyline, the film excels. With its lavish, picturesque cinematography, messages of togetherness, acceptance, and family, and life lessons about life and death, the film is the perfect introduction to the genre for kids of all ages.
While it may not break the mold or reinvent the wheel, its freshness is more than enough to make the film a Bank Holiday banger. So slip into your wellies and head into the field for a family adventure well worth the investment. It’s fun, uplifting, and poignant, packed with wholesome messages we need right now. This is awesome news. The Sheep Detectives was bags of fun on the big screen, and I cannot wait to catch the film again on Prime Video. With its witty screenplay, poignant yet fun storyline, and hilarious hijinks, the film isn’t a black sheep; it’s a blaaaast! So slip into your wellies and head into the field for a family adventure well worth the investment.
