Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 continues to dominate the global box office, earning $585 million worldwide and surpassing the first film’s entire run.
As expected, Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 has continued to dominate the global box office in its second weekend, proving there is still plenty of playtime left in the toy box. At a time when high-profile releases such as The Mandalorian and Grogu, Masters of the Universe, and even Supergirl have struggled to ignite the box office, Woody, Buzz, and the gang have reminded audiences why they continue to capture hearts more than 30 years after their debut.
Driven by generations of loyal fans and a new wave of moviegoers, Toy Story 5 delivered a blockbuster performance worldwide, including an impressive £9,158,672 second weekend at the UK box office. That’s a haul of £29 million in its first two weeks in the UK alone. Beyond the UK, the film dominated the North American box office with another $70 million second-weekend haul, helping propel it to an outstanding $585 million worldwide. The blockbuster’s box-office domination makes the studio the first to surpass $3 billion in 2026.

SYNOPSIS
The toys are back in Disney and Pixar’s “Toy Story 5,” and this time it’s Toy meets Tech. Woody (voice of Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (voice of Tim Allen), Jessie (voice of Joan Cusack) and the rest of the gang’s jobs are challenged when they come face-to-face with Lilypad (voice of Greta Lee), a brand-new tablet device that arrives with her own disruptive ideas about what is best for their kid, Bonnie. Will playtime ever be the same? “Toy Story 5” is directed by Academy Award® winner Andrew Stanton, co-directed by Kenna Harris, produced by Lindsey Collins, p.g.a., and written by Stanton and Harris from a story by Stanton. The film features an original score by Oscar® winner Randy Newman, who returns to score his fifth “Toy Story” feature.
REVIEW
We were fortunate enough to see Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 well ahead of its theatrical release, and it proved to be a fun-filled return to the toy box. In my ★★★☆☆ review, I wrote: “Overall, Toy Story 5 is another well-executed triumph for Pixar. Although characters like Woody, Buzz, and the rest of Andy’s toys find themselves sidelined in this outing, the emotionally poignant, resonant storyline, breathtaking visuals, and emotionally charged soundtrack more than make up for any disappointment.
While long-term fans of the franchise may leave disappointed by the criminal lack of screen time dedicated to their old friends, new fans will find themselves swept away by the powerful storyline and colorful characters it introduces. The film is the perfect vehicle to bring in new fans and sell another wave of merchandise that will propagate our pop culture landscape for years to come, and that is welcome to see.” Read my full review here.

RELEASE
What a phenomenal second week for the franchise. Backed by another wave of positive reviews, Disney and Pixar’s fifth adventure has reinforced the series’ reputation as one of the most critically acclaimed animated franchises ever made and one of Disney’s most valuable cinematic properties. Its impressive box-office performance also puts its commercial strength into perspective. In just two weeks, the film has already surpassed the lifetime global total of the original entry in the series.
So, could Toy Story 6 be next? It’s far too early to say. For now, though, audiences will be more than happy to enjoy the latest chapter while it continues its dominant run.
To infinity and beyond!
