“Forgive me for all I’ve done.”

Those chilling words are uttered by Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) in the brand new trailer for the epic conclusion to the trilogy, Dune: Part Three. The film doesn’t hit screens until December 18th, but the buzz and the build-up to the film start now. Also returning to the cast in this concluding chapter are Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Rampling, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Javier Bardem. Newcomers to the franchise include Isaach de Bankolé and Robert Pattinson.

The film is co-produced and directed by Denis Villeneuve, who co-wrote the screenplay with Brian K. Vaughan. It is based on Frank Herbert’s novel, Dune Messiah. Fans of the first two films are in for a shock, as Paul isn’t the hero they all expected him to be. Here, he is now a ruthless Emperor. The new trailer for the film has arrived from Arrakis. Let the spice flow again as we take a look.

THE PREMISE

From Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures comes Dune: Part Three. This film brings Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Denis Villeneuve’s epic trilogy to a breathtaking conclusion.

In “Dune: Part Three,” nearly two decades have passed since Paul Atreides took control of the Imperium. Now a ruthless Emperor, Paul faces the dire consequences of his reign as old allies resurface. In addition, terrifying new threats emerge, with betrayal lurking around every corner. Paul is haunted by visions of the Empire’s collapse and the return of his long-lost love. As a result, Paul plunges into a vast conspiracy, with Chani at its center. As rebellion swells and enemies close in, he must confront the brutal price of power and the fate of those he holds dear.

AN IMAX EXPERIENCE

I was lucky enough to be invited to the Dune: Part Three Global IMAX Fan Event earlier this evening, and had a great time. With an interactive Q&A with Denis Villeneuve live from Los Angeles, and a special appearance from Timothée Chalamet to boot, the event was a revelation. But the highlight of the event was seeing the new trailer in IMAX alongside the opening eight minutes of the film itself. I won’t reveal what it contains, but I can confirm that it looks incredible, throwing us back into the franchise in a way we haven’t seen before. All I can say is, December 18th can’t come quickly enough.
