‘Ki Ki Ki, Ma Ma Ma!’
Those who know me know that I adore the Friday the 13th movies. Yes, they have very few redeeming features. I know they are certainly not critical darlings. And I know that with the naked and sexual scenes, they can be written off as retched, juvenile entertainment. But damn, they are fun! There’s nothing like sitting down late at night, with a cold drink, snacks, and in the dark, and watching unsuspecting but, on many occasions, deserving characters get dispatched in nasty ways. I’m not going to lie, I always cheer on Jason Voorhees! That’s just me, though. Many people forget that the killer in the original film wasn’t Jason at all. It was his mother, Pamela. We’ve all wondered what led her to become the homicidal maniac and inspiration for her demented son. Now, we are going to find out.
Sky today unveils the first teaser and first-look images for Crystal Lake, a gripping new series from A24 and creator, writer, and showrunner Brad Caleb Kane (It: Welcome to Derry, Warrior).
A thrilling expansion of the iconic Friday the 13th universe awaits. The highly anticipated eight-part series stars Emmy-nominee Linda Cardellini (DTF St. Louis, Dead To Me). It will be available exclusively on Sky and streaming service NOW in the UK and Ireland. You can watch it from this October.
THE PREMISE
A prequel to the Friday the 13th franchise, Crystal Lake follows single mother Pam Voorhees (Linda Cardellini). She has been unable to shake her grief after her young, sickly son, Jason, tragically drowned in the town lake almost a year before. Then, two strangers arrive at Pam’s door, digging into her past. As a result, a disturbing chain of events is set into motion. This leaves the townspeople of Crystal Lake wondering: just who is Pam Voorhees?
Also starring William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom, Crystal Lake expands the mythology of one of horror’s most enduring franchises, blending psychological suspense, mystery, and emotional storytelling with the legacy that has captivated audiences for generations.
