He navigates the challenges of family life alongside his parents. Camille Cottin (Call My Agent!, House of Gucci) and Louis Garrel (The Dreamers, The Innocent, Little Women) portray the parents in the film. It has already become a major box office hit and a favorite among audiences in France. The movie will hit UK and Irish cinemas on 11 September.
THE PREMISE
It’s 1985. Vincent, almost 13, lives in the suburbs of Paris, caught between an older brother who brushes him off and parents who never stop arguing. No longer a child but not yet an adult, Vincent fumbles through life’s big questions. Identity, friendship, family, and first love. He also discovers that the grown-ups don’t seem to have everything figured out either.
Featuring an outstanding debut performance from Simon Boubil and inspired by the directors’ own parents and teenage experiences. The warmly nostalgic film is accompanied by a vibrant 1980s soundtrack. In addition, the story unfolds amid rising unemployment, economic uncertainty, and active anti-fascist protests in France. Just An Illusion blends heartfelt humor with an affectionate portrait of adolescence and family life.

Just an Illusion (Juste Une Illusion) is released in UK & Irish cinemas on 11th September.
