THE PREMISE
Based on the beloved novel, The Last Sunrise follows Ry (Maia Reficco), a college student with a chronic illness, on a summer escape to Mallorca with her mother (Eva Longoria). As she unexpectedly falls for Julián (Fernando Lindez) and begins to embrace living in the moment, her worsening condition and long-hidden family secrets threaten to unravel everything before the summer ends.

THOUGHTS
Ok, so this doesn’t look like your typical teenage/ young adult romantic film. It looks to be a more mature and adult story. This film will still resonate with those fifteen and over. However, it is more likely to be appreciated more by those over the age of twenty-one. As the R-rating says, it contains scenes of sexuality, nudity, and language. Thus, it is placed firmly in the more adult category. It will certainly be lapped up by those who have read the novel. However, it will also appeal to those who want a romantic movie that they can sit down and curl up with. At the very least, it will give the fans something to talk about and enjoy. They can do so with cold glasses of wine during a quiet evening or with friends.
Experience The Last Sunrise on August 26th on Prime Video.
