Marvel Studios’ long-awaited X-Men movie, directed by Jake Schreier, casts Samara Weaving as Emma Frost.
With Spider-Man: Brand New Day now swinging into cinemas everywhere, Marvel fans are eating extremely well this weekend. We recently got word of a new Ghost Rider movie starring Ryan Gosling, as well as casting details for Black Panther 3. But overnight, news has emerged that’ll tickle your mutant gene.
Deadline is reporting that Marvel Studios has cast Samara Weaving to play Emma Frost in the long-awaited X-Men movie. The role is said to be a major one in the upcoming film, which will be directed by Thunderbolts filmmaker Jake Schreier. And if you’re familiar with Emma Frost’s rich comic book history, you’ll know why this casting is such a big deal.

Frost is one of Marvel’s most fascinating mutants. She began her journey as a formidable villain and frequent foe of the X-Men before eventually turning over a new leaf. Over the years, she evolved into one of the team’s most powerful, respected, and influential members, becoming a fan-favorite leader whose razor-sharp wit is every bit as dangerous as her incredible mutant abilities.

According to the report, Marvel Studios tested several actresses for the coveted role, with Samara Weaving ultimately emerging as the favorite of both director Jake Schreier and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
It’s easy to see why. Weaving has built a reputation as one of Hollywood’s standout genre stars, most recently reprising her fan-favorite role as Grace MacCaullay in Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. With her commanding screen presence, sharp wit, and effortless charisma, she feels like a natural choice to bring Emma Frost to life. If the report is accurate, Marvel may have just found the perfect White Queen for its long-awaited X-Men reboot.
The report has already sparked speculation that Marvel Studios could be gearing up for a major X-Men announcement at D23 in just two weeks. That has fans hoping for more casting news in the days ahead before Disney officially pulls back the curtain at the event. Either way, with Emma Frost now reportedly joining the MCU, Marvel’s mutant reboot is beginning to take shape.
