Prepare For A Long Winter As MUBI Reveals The First-Look Images At The Andrew Haigh Film

MUBI, the global distributor, streaming service, and production company, has unveiled the first set of stills for Andrew Haigh’s (All of Us Strangers, 45 Years) highly anticipated new feature film, A Long Winter. The film stars Fred Hechinger (Thelma, Gladiator II), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear, The Fantastic Four: First Steps), Caitríona Balfe (Belfast, Ford v Ferrari, Outlander), Kit Connor (Heartstopper, Warfare, Rocketman), and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (Warfare, Reservation Dogs). Moreover, the film will screen this Autumn at the New York Film Festival for its New York Premiere. Additionally, the film will screen at the Toronto International Film Festival for its Canadian Premiere.
In the mountains, as autumn comes to an end, a family readies itself for the long winter ahead in “A Long Winter.” This adaptation by Haigh draws from Colm Tóibín’s acclaimed short story of the same name and features Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, David Furr, and Martin Freeman in key roles.

A Long Winter was filmed on location in Alberta, Canada, showcasing the talents of a skilled creative team. Cinematographer André Turpin, recognized for his work on Mommy and Incendies, captured breathtaking visuals. Production designer Emmanuel Fréchette, known for his contributions to Wayward and The North Water, crafted immersive environments. Editor Jonathan Alberts, celebrated for his editing in All of Us Strangers and 45 Years, skillfully pieced together the narrative.
Tristan Goligher produced the film for The Bureau. Meanwhile, Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev represented Calgary-based Nomadic Pictures, along with Michael Elliott. MUBI developed the project and co-financed it alongside Film4.

Andrew Haigh most recently directed the critically acclaimed All of Us Strangers, which received six BAFTA Award nominations, including Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. The film won Best Picture and six other awards out of fourteen British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) nominations, including Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay for Haigh, and Best Supporting Actor for Paul Mescal. All of Us Strangers was also the recipient of four Gotham and three Independent Spirit Awards nominations. His previous feature credits include Lean on Pete, 45 Years, and Weekend.
