From master writer and director, Mike Leigh, Studiocanal announces the release date and a new still for Tender Loving Care.
Ask anyone in the film industry, and they’ll tell you that writer and director Mike Leigh is a true auteur of British Cinema. From his very first film as a director, Bleak Moments from 1971, through his television plays, including Nuts In May and the incredible Abigail’s Party, and his movies, which include High Hopes, Secrets & Lies, Vera Drake, and Mr. Turner, Leigh has excelled in his craft. And now he’s back again with his latest effort, Tender Loving Care. Once again written and directed by Leigh, the film features a cast including Marion Bailey, Kate O’Flynn, and Paul Jesson. Studiocanal has today announced the film will open in UK and Irish cinemas on February 12th, 2027.
ABOUT THE FILM
Set in present-day London, Mike Leigh’s Tender Loving Care explores familial relationships. Leigh returns to his ongoing exploration of the contemporary world with this study of human strengths and weaknesses, following the success of Hard Truths.
Tender Loving Care is a feature film that was shot in January and February 2026, written and directed by Mike Leigh, and produced by Georgina Lowe for their company Thin Man Films. It may also be the final film of Leigh’s career, given the physical challenges caused by illness.
Tender Loving Care will be in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on February 12th, 2027.
