This weekend at the UK box office, Spider-Man tops the charts for the fourth weekend in a row, with The Odyssey once again following up in second place. Jason Statham’s latest action film opened in cinemas over the weekend, but struggled to attract audiences. Read on to find out the final numbers at the UK box office!
(1) Spider-Man: Brand New Day
In its fourth weekend of release, Spider-Man: Brand New Day (BND) brought in another £3,605,192, dropping 41% from the previous weekend. Its overall gross stands at a whopping £87,211,746, the highest of the year so far.
(2) The Odyssey
The Odyssey had a great sixth weekend, maintaining the number two spot behind BND with a total of £2,776,010. Its overall total stands at £75,002,170, the second highest-grossing film of the year so far.
(3) Insidious: Out of the Further
The latest installment of the Insidious franchise hit cinemas this weekend with Insidious: Out of the Further, which opened to £2,198,329. This is about the same as the previous installment in the horror franchise, Insidious: The Red Door, which opened to £2,279,084 back in 2023, unadjusted for inflation. While Sony Pictures will be pleased that there hasn’t been any meaningful dip between installments, there hasn’t been any growth either.
(4) The End of Oak Street
The End of Oak Street drops to number four in its second weekend, and it brought in £929,718. This is a 56% drop from its opening weekend, which, while not a harsh 60%+, is still not good for the film’s long-term prospects, especially as it’s already bringing in less than £1 million over the weekend.
(5) Spa Weekend
Spa Weekend, a new film from directors John Lucas and Scott Moore, opens at number five with £493,877. The film follows three childhood best friends, Jane, Coco, and Sophie, as they embark on some much-needed pampering during a luxury girls’ getaway. But when their trainwreck friend, Mel, turns up, the relaxation quickly descends into chaos.
(6) Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie
In its third weekend of release, Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie fetched £475,758, for a drop of 32% from the previous weekend. Its overall total is £4,389,455.
(7) Bethlehem Kudumba Unit
Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, an Indian Malayalam-language romantic comedy, opened in 156 cinemas over the weekend, and pulled in a total of £438,659. Indian films are often seen in the UK box office top ten, showing the strength of non-Western movies.
(8) Mutiny
Jason Statham’s latest action flick, Mutiny, hit cinemas over the weekend, but unfortunately it didn’t pull in a tidal wave of box office receipts, opening to only £372,813. The film follows former special forces operative and bodyguard Cole Reed as he’s forced to go on the run after his billionaire boss is murdered right in front of him and he is framed for the crime.
This opening compares badly to Statham’s last movie, Shelter, which opened to £964,903 earlier this year.
(9) Toy Story 5
Now in its tenth weekend of release, Toy Story 5 drops down to number nine, with a weekend total of £378,769. Its overall total is £56,384,987, in a distant third place among films released this year so far.
(10) Tony
A24’s latest release, Tony, dropped by only 15% from its opening weekend, with a total of £341,334 for A24. The film’s overall total sits at £1,009,387.
