Production Begins On The Third Season Of The Has Fallen Franchise With Shadow Has Fallen

Ahead of the debut of Apollo Has Fallen, Studiocanal, Urban Myth Films, Millennium, and G-Base announce the third season, Shadow Has Fallen.

STUDIOCANAL, URBAN MYTH FILMS, MILLENNIUM, and G-BASE today announce that filming has commenced on “SHADOW HAS FALLEN”, a CANAL+ Original Creation, with principal photography taking place in the UK and South Africa.

“Shadow Has Fallen” follows the worldwide success of PARIS HAS FALLEN, which sold to 170+ territories worldwide. It was distributed by STUDIOCANAL. In addition, the new season builds on the highly anticipated global premiere of Apollo Has Fallen this Autumn 2026.

“Shadow Has Fallen” continues the high-octane series ambition of Paris Has Fallen, Apollo Has Fallen, and Gerard Butler’s Has Fallen film franchise.

SEASON THREE PREMISE

In a sudden, brutal ambush in Mozambique, a prison bus comes under attack. Amid the chaos, Vincent and Zara rescue Miles (Iwan Rheon), an unassuming British prisoner. This ignites a chain reaction. It threatens global infrastructure, world leaders, and the very idea of government itself. Miles is a whistleblower who has in his possession a totally untraceable, unstoppable cyber weapon. This weapon is capable of hijacking any computerized system, from banks to military drones. Furthermore, he helped the British government to develop the cyber weapon. But now he has stolen it. The question is, why? And whose side is he on…

THE CAST

Ritu Arya (The Umbrella Academy, Polite Society) & Tewfik Jallab (Spiral, Dark Hearts) reprise their respective roles as fearless MI6 operative Zara Taylor (Arya). Additionally, Tewfik Jallab returns as former French Secret Service agent Vincent Taleb (Jallab).

Joining the cast for season 3 are Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones, Misfits), Brendan Coyle (Downton Abbey, Hit Point) & Atandwa Kani (Black Panther, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom).

HOWARD OVERMAN COMMENTS

The new six-episode season (6 x 52’) is once again written by series creator Howard Overman (War of The Worlds, Misfits, Hit Point), who comments

“There’s a scale to Season 3 that we’ve been building towards since PARIS HAS FALLEN, and all of us at Urban Myth Films are thrilled that STUDIOCANAL chose to back the future of this franchise in such a timely fashion. SHADOW HAS FALLEN will see Vincent and Zara embark on their most demanding and morally challenging mission – a mission that takes them into the very heart of Southern Africa.”

Marco Kreuzpaintner, known for “Bodies” and “The Lazarus Project,” and Alice Troughton, recognized for “The Living and The Dead,” “Cucumber,” and “Doctor Who,” will direct the project.

EXPANDING THE HAS FALLEN UNIVERSE

STUDIOCANAL AND SOUTH AFRICA

Following the CANAL+ Group’s acquisition of MultiChoice Group, Shadow Has Fallen is the second production of scale STUDIOCANAL is bringing to South Africa. Furthermore, this comes as they wrap filming on Bill Condon’s feature film THE ROAD HOME starring Thabo Rametsi, Cynthia Erivo, Guy Pearce, Johnny Flynn & John Legend. South Africa continues to be one of the world’s leading destinations for ambitious film and television production. The country has exceptional talent, technical expertise and production capabilities. Shadow Has Fallen is the next chapter of STUDIOCANAL’s globally recognized franchise.

The series will draw on South Africa’s world-class cast (additional names to be announced), crews and creative talent. This will further showcase the country’s capabilities on the global stage. It further demonstrates the STUDIOCANAL and CANAL+ group’s long-term commitment to South Africa and its incredible creative community. Moreover, it shows they are upholding the commitments made during the CANAL+ group’s acquisition of MultiChoice Group.

STUDIOCANAL distributes the series internationally.
