Rhys Ifans and Laura Linney star in the brand-new trailer and poster for the highly anticipated and moving Onwards And Sideways.
Parkinsons Disease is an incurable illness suffered by those over 60 years of age. It can also affect people under 50 and is called Early-Onset Parkinson’s Disease. The effects on those who suffer from it range from uncontrollable shaking, slowness in initiating movement, rigidity, and difficulty maintaining balance. It sounds, and is, a debilitating condition. However, for many who suffer from it, they accept their condition. Then they decide to live as full a life as possible. This brings us to the highly anticipated feature film, Onwards And Sideways. Directed by John Madden and starring Rhys Ifans and Laura Linney, the film hits UK cinemas on November 6th.
It will receive its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival before opening in cinemas. Afterwards, it is set to be shown on BBC iPlayer and BBC One later in the year. Icon Film Distribution has released a brand-new trailer and poster for the film.
THE PREMISE
Starring BAFTA award winner Rhys Ifans (Inheritance, House of the Dragon) and three-time Oscar nominee, Emmy and Golden Globe award winner Laura Linney (Ozark, Love Actually), Onwards and Sideways is the emotional and surprisingly funny story of two people with lots in common – a great sense of humor, a love of adventure, and an unexpected diagnosis of Parkinson’s.
Tony (Ifans) is deputy headteacher of a primary school. Emma (Linney) is a musician and composer, and a single mother of two daughters. Neither knows the other until a startling encounter changes the course of their lives. On the same morning, they are both confronted with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease.
Onwards and Sideways is their story – a friendship that unfolds unexpectedly. A story of humor, courage, music, movement and the transformative power of human connection. Challenging assumptions, the film celebrates the capacity to find joy, freedom and hope, even in life’s most difficult moments.
