The brand-new trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero unleashes an epic-scale spectacle worthy of the legendary kaiju, as humanity faces another terrifying fight for survival against the King of the Monsters.
We’re just weeks away from the first screening of Godzilla Minus Zero, and Toho has just dropped a monstrous surprise! The studio has unleashed a stunning new trailer and poster for the highly anticipated sequel, and the latest footage cranks the destruction up several notches as Japan finds itself dragged into an all-out war with the colossal King of the Monsters.
The new footage picks up two years after the events of Godzilla Minus One, with Japan struggling to rebuild and reclaim some semblance of normality following the devastation of World War II—and Godzilla’s terrifying assault. But humanity’s worst nightmare hasn’t gone away. The King of the Monsters has merely taken a timeout, and now he’s rising from the depths once again to unleash hell upon Japan.
This time, however, Japan is ready to fight back. The trailer shows the nation’s Navy taking the battle directly to Godzilla, but even humanity’s most powerful military arsenal appears hopelessly outmatched by the colossal creature. Thankfully, a brilliant new scientist has a few tricks up her sleeve that could change the game for better… or much, much worse.
And just when it seems the situation couldn’t possibly get any more terrifying, a far greater threat begins to emerge from the shadows—one that could challenge Godzilla himself for his place at the very top of the food chain. SYNOPSIS
War reduced Japan to zero, and Godzilla plunged it into minus. Two years have passed since then, and the country has faced agonizing struggles to achieve recovery and finally reclaim its daily life. Just as humanity managed to cling to a hard-won peace, a new threat strikes, crushing hope in an instant. There is no third time. Everything ends here.
CAST
Ryunosuke Kamiki, the hero who faced Godzilla’s terror in Godzilla Minus One, returns as Koichi Shikishima and is joined by Minami Hamabe as Noriko Oishi, who miraculously survived Godzilla’s first attack on Tokyo. The sequel also introduces several new characters, including Masami Nagasawa as Makoto Aoyama, a genius weather forecaster assigned to the Disaster Response Bureau. Jun Kunimura also joins the cast as Dr. Ogata, while Ko Maehara plays Akira Hagiwara, an assistant to Professor Murakami, the character played by Min Tanaka.

RELEASE
Toho has announced that Godzilla Minus Zero will unleash its colossal fury in cinemas on November 6, 2026. So, audiences can look forward to a nuclear winter courtesy of Japan’s greatest export! And if the new trailer is anything to go by, the King of the Monsters is going to leave one hell of a crater in his wake.
Adding even more scale to the spectacle, Godzilla Minus Zero will make history as the first Japanese production filmed for IMAX. Takashi Yamazaki and his team captured the film using high-definition digital cameras certified by IMAX, with both the imagery and sound specifically optimized for the IMAX experience. In other words, if you’re going to witness Godzilla laying waste to Japan, you might as well see him do it larger than life!
THE FESTIVALS
Thankfully, audiences lucky enough to attend the festival circuit are in for an early treat, as the long-awaited sequel will make its debut at film festivals across the globe ahead of its general release. Godzilla Minus Zero will have its world premiere as the Spotlight Gala selection at the 64th New York Film Festival on September 26, before crossing the Atlantic for the BFI London Film Festival, where it will screen on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
