It is one of those weeks. The ones where it is a bumper week for new releases. Six films get their time to shine on screens across the country. For Oasis fans, Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger hits the silver screen. Tense drama unfolds with Fall 2 and Pressure. Take a look at a Rugby legend with Lomu, while comedy fans can get their fix with Practical Magic 2 and the action-comedy Runner. All this and more awaits at your local cinema.

We saw the film a few weeks ago and were blown away by it. I said in my review:
“Anthony Maras’ Pressure is an enjoyable look back at the true events surrounding D-Day, featuring incredible performances from Andrew Scott and Brendan Fraser. It pulls us in, makes us care for what we see on the screen, and has us hooked as we move towards the conclusion. With a written synopsis of how the Allies defeated the Germans within a year, it is left for us to read Eisenhower’s answer to a question that was posed to him years later. Eisenhower, in a 1961 conversation with JFK, credits Overlord’s success to the fact that the Allies “had better meteorologists than the Germans”. That sums up everything that you need to know about the truth of what we have just watched.”

Our reviewer, Phil Roberts, saw the film early and thought it was a good but safe sequel, saying:
“Overall, Practical Magic 2 is a solid but safe legacy sequel that does just enough to make the journey worthwhile. Susanne Bier has crafted a decent follow-up that brings out the very best in Bullock and Kidman, who once again command the screen with effortless brilliance and leave us wanting more. While Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest are largely limited to passing-the-torch performances, their presence and impact remain woven into the fabric of the story. Joey King steps up as the film’s focal point with an assured performance that deserves plenty of recognition, while Lee Pace brings enough charm and personality to make the most of his limited role.”
