The UK box office had a quieter weekend than we’ve seen in recent weeks, but there’s still plenty to talk about! Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues to swing comfortably into first place, refusing to surrender its crown, while one familiar title makes a surprise return to the Top 10. With overall takings dipping, the battle for those coveted Top 10 positions has become even more interesting, with a few movies hanging on by the skin of their teeth.
So, which films managed to draw UK audiences into cinemas this weekend, which titles climbed the rankings, and who found themselves fighting to stay in the Top 10? Let’s take a look at this weekend’s biggest movies at the UK box office!
(1) Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Once again at number one, Spider-Man: Brand New Day pulled in another £1,635,798 to its massive total. It now sits at £96,295,305 overall, a stunning success.
(2) The Odyssey
The Odyssey keeps its number two spot yet again, with £1,530,041 added to make its overall total £82,810,143. Its impressive box office run shows no signs of stopping either.
(3) Insidious: Out Of The Further
Dropping 44% in its third weekend, Insidious: Out Of The Further also kept its number three spot, which it has held since the film’s release. Its weekend gross came in at £757,954, with an overall gross of £6,485,737.
(4) Toy Story 5
While the number one, two, and three spots have been set in stone with the same films week to week, the film in the number four spot breaks this trend. Toy Story 5 jumped six places from last weekend with £418,333. While certainly impressive, this jump is due to the lower overall box office totals rather than massive gains for the film. That said, it dropped only 13% from the previous weekend.
(5) The End Of Oak Street
The End Of Oak Street moved to number five in its fourth weekend of release with a total of £354,409. Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway’s latest film has brought in an overall total of £6,903,608 so far.
(6) Minions & Monsters
Minions & Monsters finds itself back in the top ten at the UK box office with £350,196 for the weekend. Its overall total is £19,786,791, so close to £20 million, and it’s likely to make it before it finishes its box office run. It hasn’t matched its predecessors’ box office prowess, which Universal will be disappointed by.
(7) The Death Of Robin Hood
The Death Of Robin Hood fights its way into the top ten, opening in the number seven spot to £316,129. While a 15-rated film naturally has a smaller target audience, it still couldn’t muster enough to pass films that have been out longer.
(8) The Dog Stars
The Dog Stars saw a harsh 71% drop in its second weekend, with a total of £304,763. This is quite a low total, especially considering that two films that have been out for 10 or more weeks have managed to jump higher than the movie.
(9) Coyote Vs. Acme
This weekend is not good for the dogs, as Coyote Vs. Acme also saw a massive 73% drop from its opening weekend. It brought in £289,772 in its second weekend, with an overall total of £1,693,626.
(10) Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie
The final movie at the UK box office top ten is Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie, which dropped from number eight to number 10, with a total of £275,133. This movie will find itself in the kennel next weekend, as it’s unlikely to have a jump like Toy Story 5.
Next weekend, Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger and Practical Magic 2 open in cinemas.
