Adapted from the novel Clown Town, Sir Gary Oldman will return as Jackson Lamb. He will appear in season eight of the hit Apple TV series Slow Horses.
Apple TV has revealed that it will produce a season eight of the Emmy- and BAFTA Award-winning darkly comedic spy drama “Slow Horses.” This upcoming six-episode season adapts “Clown Town,” the ninth novel in Mick Herron’s “Slough House” series. Academy Award winner Sir Gary Oldman returns to star in the series as the lovable yet grumpy Jackson Lamb, for which he has received Golden Globe, Emmy, and BAFTA nominations. Fans can stream the first five complete seasons of “Slow Horses” on Apple TV right now. Season six premieres on September 16, 2026, and season seven was also announced last year.
“’Slow Horses’ continues to charm audiences all around the world, and I’m delighted that Jackson Lamb and his gang of lovable misfits will be back for an eighth season. Their acerbic take on the high-octane world of espionage is completely unique,”said Jay Hunt, creative director, International, Apple TV.

HAILED AS ONE OF THE BEST
“Slow Horses” has been hailed as “one of the best, if not the best, series on TV.” It is a “gripping spy drama” that delivers a “story that is a masterful balance of tension, intelligence, and a character-driven narrative.” Additionally, with its “layered intrigue, relentless pacing, and satirical tone,” the “standout” series features “stellar performances, a tight screenplay, and its signature dark humor.” All five seasons of the “infinitely watchable,” “thrilling” and “riveting” series hold a Certified Fresh score. Notably, two seasons received a rare, perfect 100% critics score. Season four garnered high praise and earned the title of top series of 2024 on Rotten Tomatoes.
“Slow Horses” has won three Emmy Awards, including two for Outstanding Directing for a Drama and one for Outstanding Writing for a Drama, alongside five BAFTA Television Awards, including Writer, Drama, and two consecutive wins each for Editing, Fiction, and Sound, Fiction, as the series continues to receive global accolades from critics and fans alike.
SEASON EIGHT
Season eight sees Jackson Lamb and Diana Taverner face off in their most explosive confrontation yet. When a botched attempt to blackmail the Park puts Taverner on the offensive, Lamb must unravel one of MI5’s darkest secrets. He must put an end to it once and for all.
“Slow Horses” is a darkly humorous espionage drama that follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping-ground department of MI5 known unaffectionately as Slough House. Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but cantankerous leader of the spies. These spies end up in Slough House after career-ending mistakes. They frequently blunder through the smoke and mirrors of the espionage world.
