From the creators of The Blair Witch Project comes a new nightmare: The Influencer Project. It is coming from Icon Film Distribution this October.
Icon Film Distribution announces that The Influencer Project will hit UK and Irish cinemas nationwide on 16th October. Following their groundbreaking impact on the horror genre with the 1999 classic The Blair Witch Project, co-creator Eduardo Sánchez and producer Gregg Hale are making a highly anticipated return to their found-footage roots. Now, they present a strikingly modern spin on the concept. In this film, they take on the controversies of social media. Moreover, they explore the dangers of parasocial relationships.

British beauty and lifestyle influencer Chiara King leads this twisted tale inspired by her own experiences with stalkers, bringing a chillingly realistic edge to the story. A hugely popular online star, she has already amassed more than 4.2 million followers on TikTok and 1.4 million on Instagram. The film also marks Mike Nybroe’s directorial debut.
THE PREMISE
Influencer Chiara King travels to Copenhagen with a documentary crew promising an unfiltered look behind the glamorous business of online fame. But as the cameras and her devoted fans follow her every move, someone else is watching too. When an obsessive stalker begins closing in, the documentary mutates into something far more terrifying, blurring the line between content and evidence, follower and predator, fact and fiction.
THOUGHTS
I like the film’s look. It seems to be effectively creepy and disturbing. We keep hearing stories about celebrities being stalked online, and it seems Eduardo Sánchez and producer Gregg Hale are tapping into that to create something scary again. After The Blair Witch Project and the success they gained from it, both are ready to scare a whole new generation, this time with something extremely topical. By again using the found footage genre and mixing it with influencer culture, this could be the film for everyone this Halloween. It certainly looks as if it will chill and scare us.
The Influencer Project will be in UK cinemas on October 16th.
