SWCC | Ahsoka Tano Strikes Back in the New Trailer for Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Ray Park slips into a motion capture suit to unleash his lightsaber in the final season of The Clone Wars

Star Wars fans had their prayers answered when Disney finally caved and invited Dave Filoni back to complete his landmark series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The show ran for five stellar seasons and bridged the gap between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. After the sale of Lucasfilm to Disney, a limited number of additional episodes were released under the banner “The Lost Missions” but ultimately the house of mouse terminated the show in favour of a fresh approach.

Star Wars fans everywhere cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced when Star Wars: Rebels was announced but despite the series going onto to be embraced and welcomed into the saga, Clone Wars fans refused to accept its termination.

Thankfully, after an endless campaign a new series was commissioned to complete the series once and for all and at Star Wars Celebration fans were indulged with an extended look at the series thanks to a stunning new trailer.

Just wow. This new series looks spectacular. The visuals look better than ever, and the enriched animation style makes for exquisite viewing. However, that pales in comparison to the tantalising prospect of witnessing a blockbuster lightsaber duel between Ahsoka Tano and Darth Maul. During the Clone Wars panel, showrunner Dave Filoni confirmed that Star Wars legend Ray Park had slipped into a motion capture suit to lend his unique fighting style to the character, therefore, when Maul unleashes his lightsaber against Ahsoka, it will be the real Maul.

What more could fans ask for? Lucasfilm and Filoni are pulling out all the stops to ensure the series bows out on a high and on the strength of this new trailer it appears they have truly hit the mark.

Lucasfilm is yet to confirm a release date for the new series which is set to debut on the new Disney+ streaming service, but with production in its final stages surely it won’t be too long before we can deploy along the front lines beside Captain Rex and the 501st.
