Gotham’s Crimson Crusader to star in her own series for The CW
After making an impressive debut in the Arrowverse “Elseworlds” crossover event alongside Green Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl, The CW has officially greenlit a full season of episodes for the Gotham City Crimson Crusader, The Batwoman.
Ruby Rose made quite an impression when she slipped into the leather bat suit and patrolled the rooftops of Gotham City and proved to be a hit with Warner Bros. executives who have unveiled our first teaser trailer for the show which you can watch below:
Despite offering very little in terms of the tone or content of the show, this teaser is more than enough to freshen our excitement levels for what I hope to be a thoroughly entertaining series.
Synopsis:
Armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, Kate Kane [Rose] soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a saviour, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.
In truth, the timing couldn’t be better for The Batwoman to make her debut in the CW Universe. With Arrow entering its twilight and The Flash and Supergirl becoming seasoned veterans of our weekly television schedules, there is a considerable void in need of filling and The Batwoman is a shoo-in to swoop in and inject some much-needed freshness to proceedings.
Serving as showrunner for The Batwoman will be Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries), with Greg Berlanti acting as executive producer of the series. Berlanti has been the driving force behind Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow since their inception and is poised to continue to strengthen his portfolio with The Batwoman.
Gotham’s latest defender is coming. Criminals beware!
