Just when you thought it was safe to go back to your bedroom!
A few weeks back, we brought you the chilling trailer and poster for Sam Raimi’s upcoming Alligator creature feature Crawl starring The Maze Runner’s Kaya Scodelario. The monster flick has been teased as a nature run amok thrill ride featuring hurricane’s, flood waters and killer Alligators who decide its time to reclaim suburbia for themselves.
Producer Sam Raimi and director Alexandre Aja appear to be pulling out all the stops to make this movie and terrifying as it can possibly be and to emphasize that point, Paramount Pictures has today unleashed an all-new poster which features one of the beasts taking refuge beneath a child’s bed. Take a look:
I love a good monster movie. Call me old fashioned but I love a creature feature where nature turns against us and we unwillingly become a part of the food chain. It echoes the deep seeded terror found in Spielberg’s all-time classic Jaws and taps into our most primal of fears where a monster from the depths surfaces to feast upon us. It’s what good cinema is made for, and what better way to pass the time than with a two-hour Alligator flick!
If you’re coming into this thing with zero knowledge, here’s the plot:
When a massive hurricane hits her Florida town, young Haley ignores the evacuation orders to search for her missing father, Dave. After finding him gravely injured in their family home, the two of them become trapped by the rapidly encroaching floodwaters. With the storm strengthening, Haley and Dave discover an even greater threat than the rising water level — a relentless attack from a pack of gigantic alligators.
Here’s another chance to catch the trailer:
Crawl is set to drag the box office into a death roll on July 12th.
