Wonder Woman 1984 | Patty Jenkins Unveils Retro New Poster

The director takes us back to the eighties with the psychedelic new poster

In a shocking twist that took us all by surprise, Warner Bros. is skipping out on San Diego Comic-Con this year. It was widely expected that the studio would continue with its traditional Hall H appearance at the event and showcase its upcoming slate of incredible movies like IT: Chapter 2, Joker, Birds Of Prey: And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn and Wonder Woman 1984.

While this is unfortunate news, the creative team behind IT: Chapter 2 have confirmed that they will be headlining the New Line-branded ScareDiego event, which is set for Wednesday, July 17th. The IT creative team will be bringing some new material related to the highly anticipated sequel to the show to get our clown juices flowing. But, the overall lack of DC action at the venue has left our appetites unsatisfied. In fact, for the thousands of fans making the pilgrimage, it’s a massive blow.

Enter Patty Jenkins.

The Wonder Woman 1984 director has swooped in to save the day by unveiling a truly mesmerising new poster for the movie which reveals Gal Gadot‘s Diana Prince sporting a new golden attire set against the backdrop of a psychedelic burst of colour. This new poster represents our first real look at Wonder Woman 1984 which finds Diana Prince coming into conflict with the Soviet Union during the Cold War in the 1980s and encountering a formidable foe in the form of the Cheetah.

Kristen Wiig has been cast as Barbara Ann Minerva, A British archaeologist who, after locating the lost city of Urzkartaga and stumbling into an ancient ritual, becomes the host of their Cheetah goddess. Chris Pine returns as Steve Trevor, Connie Nielsen reprises her role as Hippolyta queen of Themyscira and Patty Jenkins return to direct. Hans Zimmer has emerged from superhero retirement to score the movie.
