The Best Moment | Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2

Annlyel continues her series focussing on the best moment from every instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe continuing with the James Gunn’s Guardians Vol. 2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has an 84% score on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.7 out of 10 on IMDb and I’m sorry to say but that seems laughable to me. Critics believe this movie is better than Ant-ManAvengers: Age of UltronCaptain Marvel, Captain America: The First AvengerIron Man 3 and Iron Man 2?! What?!

I own Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and I never watch it because every time I strike up the willpower to struggle through the film’s excessive hollering and lackluster storytelling I find myself, at the conclusion, wondering why I had wasted yet another two-plus hour of my life.

I love Marvel and they rarely mess up lately but I’m not shy in saying that this Marvel sequel does not float my boat. I will admit though, picking a moment for this series will not be hard at all, for there is one scene in the film that I do legitimately love and that is the beginning. No, not the beginning with de-aged Kurt Russel driving with Peter Quill’s mother in Missouri, parking in a Dairy Queen parking lot, and declaring his “love” for Meredith Quill in the forest.

No, I’m talking about the true beginning. The one featuring our favorite band of galactic misfits ready to kick names and take a**. As the giant space-octopus thing falls from the sky and the Guardians prepare for battle Baby Groot turns on the music and a giant smile rests on my face.

This scene featuring Baby Groot dancing to “Mr. Blue Sky” is so magical that it’s kind of saddening whenever I watch it. If the whole movie had kept with the tone of that one scene not only would it have been better than Guardians of the Galaxy but it would’ve also been one of the best Marvel movies ever made.

Ooh, what’s next? Spider-Man: Homecoming. Fun! See you then.
