Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will blur the lines between fantasy and reality
With the Black Spire Outpost proving to be a solid hit with Star Wars fans of all ages, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has proven itself to be one of the best mediums of revolutionary entertainment on the planet. Not only can fans enjoy environments of the galaxy far, far away, but they can also build their very own droids and lightsabers, taste the out of this world food and beverages in the cantina, and even fly the iconic Millennium Falcon.
In short, Galaxy’s Edge is nothing short of a mecca for fans of all ages to get a little closer to the franchise they know and love. However, if you thought this was the end of the line for the immersive entertainment on show at Walt Disney World Resort then you’d be dead wrong. Opening on December 5th (Walt Disney’s Birthday), Lucasfilm and Walt Disney World Resort will open the doors to a whole new attraction which promises to take our enjoyment to a whole new level.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will blur the lines between fantasy and reality and will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Guests will be recruited to join Rey and General Organa at a secret base. Along the way, they will be captured by a First Order Star Destroyer. With the help of some heroes of the Resistance, they break out and must escape the Star Destroyer, protect the secret base, and stay one step ahead of Kylo Ren.
As soon as work is completed at Walt Disney World, Imagineers will head back to California to complete their mission at Disneyland Resort where Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will open on Friday, Jan. 17.
This is incredible news. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has already amazed fans with its highly immersive and interactive landscapes, but Rise of the Resistance promises to take the theme park to a whole new level. Being able to fly the Millennium Falcon is one thing, but to actively take part in a storyline which casts you as an active member of the Resistance in opposition of the tyranny of the First Order is an entirely new concept which is sure to be another solid hit.
So far, the Disney Imagineers have excelled themselves at Galaxy’s Edge, but with Rise of the Resistance heading our way just weeks ahead of the launch of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker this winter is going to be one hell of a ride.
