It's Official | Taika Waititi to Write/Direct Thor 4

Chris Hemsworth and Taika Waititi will return to spearhead Marvel Studios’ Phase 4

The lightning has erupted in the skies above and the thunder is echoing off in the distance because it has just been announced that Taika Waititi and Chris Hemsworth will be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to bring us Thor 4.

The duo delivered what many fans believe to be the greatest entry in the Thor trilogy in Thor: Ragnarok and determined to cash in on its critical and commercial success, Marvel has inked a deal with Waititi to return as writer and director.

Whilst this news is destined to be celebrated by fans the world over, this news has come at a cost. Sadly, due to scheduling conflicts, Waititi’s long-gestating adaptation of Japanese Manga tale Akira which he has been developing with Warner Bros. has been placed on indefinite hold.

Marvel fans, however, won’t be too downhearted. Thor: Ragnarok was an absolute blast and the thought of Hemsworth and Waititi reuniting to further the adventures of the God of Thunder, overweight or not is an enticing prospect.

There have been no further revelations regarding the tone or story of the sequel, nor have Marvel confirmed an expected date of release but with Thor last seen joining the Guardians of the Galaxy, there are endless possibilities of where the adventure will find the God of Thunder.
