Annlyel continues her series focussing on the best moment from every instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe continuing with Ryan Coogler’s Oscar-winning blockbuster
Black Panther was a highly-anticipated movie but no one knew just how much praise the movie would end up getting. Becoming the first superhero film to be nominated for a Golden Globe and Best Picture at the Oscar’s, garnering seven Oscar nominations, and winning a very surprising but well-deserved three Oscars, it’s safe to say that Black Panther is one of the greatest superhero movies of all time.
There are a lot of fantastic moments in this movie but I’d have to say my favorite scene is that momentous first duel between Erik Killmonger and T’Challa. Killmonger was this phantom menace of sorts throughout the first half of the film but when he fully arrived at the forefront he not only shook things up but he almost killed T’Challa.
In an emotional duel that still makes me teary to this day, Killmonger defeats T’Challa and briefly becomes king of Wakanda. In that instant, the movie goes from good to amazing. Killmonger’s legitimate threat to the main characters is worrying and the direness of the story is raised to a ten.
If not for that twist I don’t think the movie would’ve been as good as it was, making this undoubtedly the best moment in Black Panther.
Oh, yay. Next up; Avengers: Infinity War.
