Annlyel continues her series focussing on the best moment from every installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe continuing with Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and the Wasp
Ant-Man and the Wasp was the perfect third film of 2018, bringing a much-needed levity after the depressing conclusion of Avengers: Infinity War. And with Wasp making her debut it was quite a ride to see both of these superheroes kick butt as the ultimate team.
There are many fun scenes in the film but I definitely think my favorite moment in the movie is when Hank Pym reunites with his wife, Janet van Dyne. Hank Pym has reached the Quantum Realm and he’s going mad. He starts having a hallucination that he’s back in his house. His daughter Hope appears as well as Scott Lang and his ex-friend, Bill Foster. Just to make things even creepier this person appears in the hall cloaked in darkness.
I remember when I saw this part for the first time in the movie theaters. Immediately the scene goes from kind of strange to instantly creepy and there’s a legitimate sense of fear that the scene brings. It’s a startling contrast to the light tone of the film and the shining moment of the movie for me.
This scene shows that Peyton Reed can delve the movie away from the more comedic side of things and make things serious if he actually wants to which could be a nice change of pace for a potential third film.
Next stop, Captain Marvel.
