Ewan McGregor will star in an Obi-Wan series for Disney+ shooting in 2020

Star Wars fans will know all too well that an Obi-Wan Kenobi standalone project has in the works at Lucasfilm for some time, however, the failure of Solo: A Star Wars Story at the worldwide box office forced a fundamental rethink by the powers that be and as a result, all standalone projects have been shelved for the foreseeable future.

However, today at Disney’s annual D23 Expo, Lucasfilm has confirmed that Ewan McGregor has signed on to return as Obi-Wan Kenobi for an all-new Star Wars series heading to Disney+. The series is expected to begin shooting next year with the script for every episode already in the works.
