The incredible poster showcases the battle between the light side and the dark.
After what turned out to be a jaw-dropping Disney+ panel at the annual D23 Expo, we barely had time to catch our breath before Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy took to the stage on day two to reveal a little more about the upcoming final instalment in the saga; The Rise of Skywalker.
And she wasn’t about to disappoint us.
Despite dashing our hopes of watching a new trailer, both Kennedy and director J.J Abrams invited the cast onto the stage before unveiling an all-new poster which offers us our first look at Emperor Palpatine. The glorious poster reveals Rey and Kylo Ren locked in a furious lightsaber duel whilst the ominous shadow of the Emperor looks on like a master puppeteer manipulating his victims.
Check it out. First up is the US version with the UK version below.
As a reward for attending the panel, every member of the audience was presented with a limited-edition version as a complimentary gift, which is sure to become a prized addition to collections the world over. In addition to the poster, Lucasfilm debuted a sizzle reel of new footage which revealed Rey, Finn and Kylo Ren before showing the charred helmet of Darth Vader. Sadly, the reel was only available to watch at the event, but we have been assured that the footage will be made available online this coming Monday.
Check back for the latest updates as they emerge.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ends the Skywalker saga on December 19th in the UK and the 20th in the US.
