Thomas takes the battle to the Empire with the awesome new Cal Kestis action figure from Hasbro’s Force Friday line-up
With Triple Force Friday, Hasbro has unveiled their new wave of Black Series figures celebrating the release of The Rise Of Skywalker, Jedi Fallen Order and The Mandalorian. All the figures were released on October 4th in the US but the situation is different in Europe. For the Black Series, a handful was released on October 4th with the rest arriving this week for online stores. However, when it comes to toy stores, the situation is not the same. In France, I have received word that First Edition packaging will be arriving on October 20th at the PicWicToys stores (formerly Toys R’Us) and a part of the First Edition wave is already available in MicroMania stores (French version of GameStop). As for the UK, I have yet to see reports of Black Series founds in toy stores. And thanks to my twitter friend Dominik E. for reporting that the Black Series wave is available in Germany, normal packaging!
My first review from this new wave is the hero of the upcoming video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – Cal Kestis! He comes with his lightsaber and his droid companion BD-1!
BD-1 is quite a small figure but Hasbro has been able to produce a nice paint app on it and give it articulation! He has 5 points of articulation, which is cool! Cal’s head sculpt is absolutely amazing, it really looks like Cameron Monaghan, if you look closely you can even see his freckles! Hasbro nailed another sculpt and hair sculpt as well! The hairpiece has been sculpted separately from the head sculpt, which is what Hasbro does now for most of their figures, it gives better results.
This figure has 20 points of articulation, he has the elbow articulation from women characters rather men characters but he was given extra shoulders articulation, it’s the same shoulder articulation that S.H. Figuarts and MAFEX figures have, which is something that rarely happens with Hasbro.
The outfit is dope and seems to be accurate, Hasbro has nailed it with the paint app, it’s detailed and well done! As for the lightsaber, it’s painted all in dark grey, it’s the only thing that is not really accurate but I love the design, it’s different from what we’ve seen before.
Overall, Cal Kestis is an excellent figure, with an amazing head sculpt!
