With a 2020 slate full of superhero awesomeness, Annlyel shares her top superhero movies of 2019
Last year there were more superhero movies to enjoy but the quality of this year’s superhero films has been fun to observe. From Marvel to DC Comics, here’s a look at the superhero landscape of 2019.
4. Captain Marvel
The first Marvel female superhero to get their very own film, Brie Larson shined in her title role as the cocky-but-heroic Captain Marvel. She soared, she inspired, and she proved yet again that audiences are willing to pay money to see a female hero on the big screen as Captain Marvel made box-office history as it catapulted past a billion dollars at the box-office.
3. Spider-Man: Far from Home
Expectedly cute and with one of the best MCU villains to date, Far from Home once again reminds us why Spider-Man’s induction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been such a success.
2. Shazam!
Shazam! is hands down the best film in the DCEU. Funny, filled with heart, and delivering a rather thrilling surprise, this is the first DCEU film to actually make me happy.
1. Avengers: Endgame
Was there any doubt? That epic first twenty minutes. Bro Thor. Captain America wielding Mjolnir. The dead Avengers’ return. Iron Man’s sacrifice. There are so many elements to this movie that made me happy there was no way I could name a superhero film of 2019 that was better than this one.
2020 will bring Black Widow, Venom 2, The Eternals and who knows what else. I am so ready! Until then, happy 2019! It’s been a blast.
