The unnerving new poster sets the tone for a dark and twisted Marvel movie!
For a while, it seemed like The New Mutants would never make it onto our screens. Production on the project began almost three years ago, but studio dissatisfaction and constant reshoots mired its journey along the production line. However, since Disney took over 20th Century Fox and relaunched the studio under a new 20th Century Studios banner, things appear to be back on track.
The New Mutants is finally nearing its official release date, and to demonstrate how serious the studio is about the project, the film’s official Twitter account has posted an all-new poster which is sure to send chills down your spine. Check it out:
If that isn’t enough to send get the hairs standing on the back of your neck, the studio has upped the ante by publishing a series of new images which you can check out below:
Here’s the official synopsis:
“20th Century Studios in association with Marvel Entertainment presents “The New Mutants,” an original horror thriller set in an isolated hospital where a group of young mutants is being held for psychiatric monitoring. When strange occurrences begin to take place, both their new mutant abilities and their friendships will be tested as they battle to try and make it out alive”
To be completely blunt with you, I have mixed feelings toward The New Mutants. During the decline of 20th Century Fox, the studio was notorious for tampering with its projects – and the results were pretty darn shocking. Case in point, The Predator was subjected to chaotic reshoots and constant studio tampering which diluted the vision of writer/director Shane Black until the movie resembled very little of his original concept. And don’t get me started on X-Men: Dark Phoenix!!!
Let’s just hope that under the supervision of Disney The New Mutants will be allowed to shine.
The New Mutants will FINALLY hit multiplexes on April 3, 2020.
