The Star Wars literary universe prepares to explore a time hundreds of years before the Skywalker saga in Star Wars: The High Republic
Ever since being revealed at Star Wars Celebration Chicago last year (2019), fans have been clamoring to figure out just what Project Luminous is and what it would mean for the overarching Star Wars universe. Prior this announcement, the prevailing belief was that it was an approach to interconnect all of Star Wars lore mostly in books and comics, in a way not too dissimilar to that of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
This was due in large part to the quote said by Jedi Master Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back “Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter.” Luminous of course leads one to think of a vast, unending light. When looking at the quote as a whole, one can only be led to believe that it will take Lucasfilm publishing medium out of the sort of stand-alone projects it has been and reformats it into a larger, more cohesive and bright future.
Until today (February 24, 2020), all that was known for sure was that authors Claudia Gray, Cavan Scott, Daniel José Older, Justina Ireland, and Charles Soule were all announced to take part in this venture along with publishers Del Rey, Disney/Lucasfilm Press, IDW Publishing and Marvel Comics having a hand in this exploit as well.
Now that the news has officially dropped, we know that mystery that fans have been speculating about for ten long months deals at least partially in the time of the High Republic as noted by the novel simply titled Star Wars: The High Republic—Light of the Jedi by author Charles Soule. This is reported to be a time in the Star Wars galaxy in which there were multitudes of Jedi knights and their padawan apprentices stationed throughout the known and partially unknown stretches of space. It was generally understood to be a time of peace before the Galactic Civil War.

I am a major “Star Wars” fan who currently writes for Future of the Force and is absolutely loving it! Until my writing career really takes off, I am now writing for Future of the Force full time, having graduated Spring 2018 with my Bachelor’s Degree in Literature and Writing.
My other interests include ABC’s “The Good Doctor”, CW’s “Arrow” and “The Flash”, and DC’s “Batman”. Of all the iterations of Batman, my favorite would definitely have to be 1992’s “Batman: The Animated Series”.
