Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey go on a spiritual journey in Disney’s Pixar’s next blockbuster
Everybody has a soul. Joe Gardner is about to find his.
With Disney Pixar defying the recent coronavirus outbreak to release the immensely successful Onward, all eyes are on the studios’ next movie which is set to be released in June. Written and directed by the head of Pixar, Pete Docter, ‘Soul’ has been touted as an adventure that will take audiences to a world where no one’s ever been. An emotional rollercoaster ride that will lead audiences on a spiritual and emotional journey similar in style to its highly lucrative Pixar predecessor, Inside Out.
Today, Disney Pixar has unveiled the trailer for ‘Soul’ which you can see below. Check it out:
Here’s the synopsis:
Joe Gardner (Jamie Foxx), a middle school music teacher, has long dreamed of performing jazz music on stage, and finally gets a chance after impressing other jazz musicians during an opening act at the Half Note Club.
However, an untimely accident causes Gardner’s soul to be separated from his body, and transported to the “You Seminar”, a center in which souls develop and gain passions before being transferred to a newborn child, and Gardner must work with souls in training, such as 22 (Tina Fey), a soul with a dim view on life after being trapped for years at the You Seminar, in order to return to Earth before it’s too late.
If the trailer isn’t enough to prepare for this spectacular spiritual journey, the studio also released a glossy new poster which you can check out below:
Judging by this trailer, all things point at Pete Docter serving up another triumph here. The visionary director has a knack for bringing these stories to life and following the success of Up and Inside Out, you wouldn’t bet against him being in contention for another Oscar nomination come awards season.
Disney and Pixar’s Soul arrives in theaters on June 19.
