The actor will slip into the famed Mandalorian bounty hunter armor for a stunning return to the ‘Star Wars’ universe…
So, chalk this one up in the dream casting category!
According to reports, Star Wars legend Temuera Morrison who famously portrayed bounty hunter Jango Fett in Star Wars: Attack Of The Clones is set to make a stunning return to the galaxy far, far away in season two of The Mandalorian. Ordinarily, this news would be more than enough to send Star Wars fans into delirium, however, when you throw in the fact that he has been cast as the legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett we have officially entered dream casting territory.
Although this dream casting will be heralded as a triumph by Star Wars fans everywhere, Boba Fett is only expected to play a minor role in the events of The Mandalorian. The character was teased in the season one’s “The Gunslinger,” when an obscure figure sporting the bounty hunter’s trademark spurs approached the lifeless body of Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen); but that won’t dissuade Fett fans from celebrating like an Ewok around the campfire!
The fate of the fan-favorite character, who famously perished after falling into the Pit of Carkoon in Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi has been the subject of discussion for decades with many fans refusing to believe the legitimacy of his demise. And when it came time for him to remaster the original trilogy for its Special Edition release, George Lucas pondered over whether to include a new scene with Fett emerging from the pit, but ultimately decided against doing so simply because the fans refused to believe he died there in the first place.
As for Morisson, thankfully the actor has maintained his connection to the Star Wars universe by lending his vocals to both Jango and Boba Fett for various video games including Star Wars: Battlefront II. He also portrayed Clone Commander Cody in Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith and voiced every clone in the prequels.
Joining Temuera Morisson in The Mandalorian season two will be series regulars Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Carl Weathers, Giancarlo Esposito, Baby Yoda, and franchise newcomers Rosario Dawson (expected to play Ahsoka Tano) and Hollywood legend Michael Biehn. The Mandalorian: Season two is expected to premiere on Disney+ this October.
Just when you thought The Mandalorian couldn’t get any better…IT JUST DID!
