The Flash Concept Art

Barbara Muschietti says The Flash movie restarts everything and doesn’t forget anything.

One of the major talking points from DC FanDome: Hall Of Heroes was Ezra Miller’s Flash movie. After revealing that both Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck will both be suiting up as Batman, director Andy Muschietti added the icing on the cake when he revealed that Michael Keaton’s Dark Knight will be the creative force behind Barry Allen’s new Scarlet Speedster outfit. But the fun doesn’t end there.

During a Q&A session featured at DC FanDome Part 2: Explore The Multiverse, producer Barbara Muschietti was asked whether there will be more characters joining the already stellar cast and her response was surprising.  Although she was hesitant to reveal too much, she did reveal that the story which is loosely based upon the classic “Flashpoint” storyline will feature a lot more DC characters the previously thought.

“Well, I want you to go see it, so I’m not going to tell you a lot. But what I will tell you is that it’s a ride. It’s going to be fun and exciting and there are a lot of DC characters in it. Flash is the superhero of this film because he is the bridge between all of these characters and timelines. And in a way, it restarts everything and doesn’t forget anything.”

This is glorious news – and from the sounds of things, the additional characters won’t be restricted to the current crop of characters making up the DCEU. Barbara Muschietti went as far as to say that the movie will feature past incarnations of classic DC characters meaning the sky will truly be the limit for The Flash. Dare we imagine Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight playing a pivotal role in proceedings? Could Brandon Routh‘s Superman return once more? Could Jack Nicholson’s Joker make an unexpected guest appearance? Dare we envision Henry Cavill popping up as the Man of Steel? or could Christian Bale suit up as Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight to encounter Harley Quinn? Oh, the possibilities!

The Flash Justice League

Either way, The Flash is going to be an indelible movie – one that has the chance to reshape the entire DC Multiverse – and that is a tantalizing prospect. 2022 cannot arrive quickly enough.
