Toby Haynes Steps In To Direct The ‘Cassian Andor’ Disney+ Series

Tony Gilroy has been forced to vacate the director’s chair due to COVID-19 travel restrictions

COVID-19 has forced another shake-up in the galaxy far, far away…

We are hearing that Tony Gilroy has been replaced as the director of the upcoming Star Wars Cassian Andor Disney+ series by Toby Haynes due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. With Gilroy currently residing in New York, and with the UK enforcing a lengthy quarantine for all travelers in and out of the country – Disney/Lucasfilm has turned to Haynes who is already stationed in the UK.

The new arrangement will see Haynes step in to assume directorial duties on the first three episodes. Haynes has made a name for himself following noteworthy directorial successes with shows like Doctor Who, Sherlock, and Black Mirror; and brings a wealth of experience to the galaxy far, far away…

Aside from the Cassian Andor series, Disney/Lucasfilm is charging ahead at full steam to deliver The Mandalorian Season 2 and Ewan McGregor’s upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series. The Rogue One spin-off series has been described as a “rousing spy thriller will explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.”
