Rumors suggest the series could enter production as early as NEXT WEEK!
The dust has barely settled on the second episode from The Mandalorian Season Two, and the wires have exploded with chatter suggesting that production on Season Three could begin as early as next week. Moreover, amongst the tidbits of information emerging from Deadline, is that a Boba Fett mini-series may also be in the pipeline.
Deadline’s report suggests that filing on Mando Season Three will be getting underway either next week – or in the Spring with the Boba Fett series expected to take the other production slot. By comparison, season two of The Mandalorian began filming in November last year, so this production schedule appears to fit the mold. Incidentally, Deadline also reports that Sophie Thatcher (When the Street Lights Go On) – could be in line for a role in either the Boba Fett spin-off or Mando season 3, however, there was nothing to substantiate the rumor.
By now fans will be aware that Boba Fett made a spectacular return in the final moments of The Mandalorian: Chapter 9 – The Marshal (read our review) when he appeared atop the dunes of Tatooine looking on intently as Din Djarin took possession of his iconic armor. There is no information regarding the direction of the series, nor can we confirm that Temuera Morrison has been asked to return – but this will all be confirmed if and when Disney breaks their silence.
For now, fans can satisfy their appetite for Star Wars awesomeness with The Mandalorian which is currently airing on Disney+ – but with Season 3 set to kick off very soon and the prospect of a Boba Fett mini-series on the cards – the future of the Star Wars franchise appears to be very healthy. And that’s before we even talk about Obi-Wan Kenobi and Cassian Andor!
Persoanlly, after having my fanboy dreams realized last week when Boba Fett appeared on screen for the first time since falling into the Sarlaac Pit in Return of the Jedi – this news is enough to make my inner six-year-old dance around like a Baby Yoda at a banquet. I CANNOT WAIT!
May the force be with you!
