Otto Octavius will return to menace our friendly neighborhood wallcrawler in the Spidey threequel
Alfred Molina is returning to the Spider-Verse to reprise his role as the sinister Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man 3. According to THR, Molina’s involvement had been rumored for some time after the actor was spotted on set.

Molina’s involvement confirms that Spider-Man 3 will serve as a tangible thread designed to bind three generations of Spider-Man movies together. Jamie Foxx is returning as Electro after playing the role in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opposite Andrew Garfield’s wallcrawler, while Molina famously menaced Tobey Maguire’s web-head in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2. And, if that isn’t enough to have you slipping into your Spidey suit, a recently deleted Instagram post from Foxx hinted that three different incarnations of Spider-Man could be making an appearance.

All this points to Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures pulling out all the stops to deliver the ultimate Spider-Man movie. Tom Holland will once again reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man alongside MCU veterans Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon, and Tony Revolori with Benedict Cumberbatch confirmed to be joining the cast as Doctor Strange. Jon Watts is once again back in the director’s chair.
Exciting times in the ever-expanding MCU.
