Never get stuck with What To Watch When ever again with DK Books‘ sensational new entertainment volume
What To Watch When. That is the question occupying everyone’s thoughts during Lockdown. Well, we may just have found the answer!
While we have been in lockdown, unable to visit family and friends. Unable to go to the cinema or find other entertainment outside our homes. We have been turning to digital entertainment, our old DVDs and Blu-Ray or whatever we can find on TV. Whether it’s on terrestrial television or any of the many streaming services such as Prime Video, Netflix, Disney+, etc. We have come to rely on these forms of entertainment to keep us going and for the most part, they have succeeded. But consider that you DIDN’T know what kind of entertainment was at your fingertips. Or that you weren’t sure about what to watch, depending on the kind of mood you’re in.
DK TO THE RESCUE
DK Books have thankfully come up with the answer. They have compiled a book containing 1,000 TV shows for you to consider watching depending on your mood. The book suggests a show for every occasion. Such as what to watch when – you want to get your pulse racing. Or what to watch when – you have three generations on one sofa. Perhaps what to watch when – you just want to switch off.
What To Watch When | DK BOOKS
These moods and many more are contained within the book’s pages. And will bring great ideas for the reader to curl up with, either by themselves, with a loved one, or the whole family. Take your pick from the suggestions included inside the book (it is quite thick). And maybe find that unexpected gem that you’ve been meaning to watch. An old favorite you feel like watching again. Or introducing the family to something you think they’ll enjoy. Or a show from your childhood that your children would enjoy and it’s time to introduce them to.
GET YOUR PULSE RACING
Take the get your pulse racing section. It is here where you will find great fare such as ‘Game Of Thrones‘, ‘Breaking Bad‘, ‘The Mandalorian‘ and ‘Battlestar Galactica‘. Who wouldn’t enjoy a space western like the completely brilliant and award-winning ‘The Mandalorian‘? The Disney+ series is a Star Wars fan’s dream show but it’s so much more than that. It is a show that will entertain every member of the family. ‘The Boys‘ is listed too. Ok, so the show is not for the easily offended, the squeamish, or your granny. But it is a must-see and must-experience show. It isn’t for everyone but for those who stick with it, you’ll get a blast out of it. Or the classic ‘Battlestar Galactica‘ maybe something to revisit. The choice is yours.
Three generations on one sofa are for the family audience. Here, you’ll find such delights as ‘The Simpsons‘, ‘Doctor Who‘ from the very start, ‘The Muppet Show‘ and ‘Star Trek‘. Who wouldn’t find it fun to curl up with the family and visit the delightful ‘The Addams Family‘? Or roar out loud at the frolics of ‘The Golden Girls‘. ‘Wallace And Gromit‘ are bound to make the children laugh themselves silly and the adults will get fun from it too.
ESCAPISM AT ITS BEST
You want to escape to a different time encompasses the drama fans amongst us. Choices here include ‘The Avengers‘, ‘Brideshead Revisited‘, ‘Blackadder‘ (always a favorite), or ‘The Witcher‘. Which is a favorite amongst the members of my own family. Such fare will keep the viewer entertained for hours and will leave them thirsty for more.
Fancy a cozy night in? Why not sit back with ‘Dawson’s Creek‘, ‘Sex And The City‘, or ‘Ugly Betty‘? Binge-watching lies ahead as these classic shows play on your TV screen. Or how about a feel-good moment with stuff such as ‘Friends‘, ‘Boy Meets World‘, ‘The Goldbergs‘ or ‘The Great British Bake Off‘? All good entertainment to while away the hours and to keep you entertained. What about a really good laugh with ‘Grace And Frankie‘, ‘Cheers‘, the classic ‘Monty Python’s Flying Circus’ or ‘The Big Bang Theory‘? All are bound to make you roar and cry with laughter. ‘Monty Python‘ never fails to make me have tears of laughter rolling down my face.
Do you want to learn something new? Try ‘The Crown, ‘Roots‘, ‘Planet Earth‘ or QI‘. All are bound to entertain you and in the case of ‘Planet Earth‘, the visuals are completely breathtaking. Do you feel like wallowing? Can you be tempted by ‘Fleabag‘, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale‘, ‘ Veep‘ or ‘Killing Eve‘? All these and more are contained within the pages, alongside the content ratings so you can make an informed choice. The storytelling of ‘Killing Eve‘ will keep you hooked and on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
Our final two sections cover when you want to switch off and will bring delights such as ‘Downton Abbey‘, Dynasty‘, ‘Billions‘ and the completely classic ‘Batman‘. ‘Downton Abbey‘ will, of course, appeal to those out there who love period dramas. Whereas ‘Batman‘ will bring a sense of silliness, campness but wholly enjoyable fun to your family or guests. Another title that is included in this section is ‘Spartacus‘. The show was a shock to the system when it was first broadcast. Especially with its violence and nudity. But it was enjoyed the world over. And finally, do you want to be scared witless? Why not try ‘The Walking Dead‘, ‘The X-Files‘, ‘Stranger Things‘ (a favorite of mine), ‘Twin Peaks‘ or even the classic ‘Quatermass Quadrilogy’? All these and more are recommended in this section before the book comes to an end.
The writers of this impressive book, Christian Blauvelt, Laura Buller, Andrew Frisicano, Stacey Grant, Mark Morris, Eddie Robson, Maggie Serota, Drew Toal, Matthew Turner, and Laura Ulster have compiled some of the best shows for us to consider. The selections above just scratch the surface of the recommendations that are contained within the pages. All are highly recommended and have been compiled with lots of love and great research. I found What To Watch When invaluable and certainly worth owning. The situation outside our front doors won’t continue forever but even when it is finally over, we can go back to the book time and again and get great ideas on what entertainment we could be watching and enjoying. Grab a copy and enjoy!
