Here’s our first look at NECA‘s Ultimate MacReady (Kurt Russell) from John Carpenter’s The Thing
At long last, it would appear that NECA has bagged the license rights to produce a series of figures from John Carpenter’s The Thing. Many toy companies have tried to obtain the license over the years with varying degrees of success. But NECA has finally secured the rights and we can now look forward to an exceptional range of figures from one of Carpenter’s most beloved classics.
And on what happens to be Kurt Russell’s 70th birthday, they have announced the first figure – R.J. MacReady Ultimate 7″ Scale Figure!
The figure includes three interchangeable head sculpts, a hat, goggles, a bottle of whisky, a glass, a lantern, and more. And if that isn’t enough to have you reaching for your flamethrower with glee; NECA has also shared a preview image of the various head sculpts that have been created for the release.
In John Carpenter’s iconic movie, members of an American scientific research outpost in Antarctica find themselves battling a parasitic alien organism capable of perfectly imitating its victims. They soon discover that this task will be harder than they thought, as they don’t know which members of the team have already been assimilated and their paranoia threatens to tear them apart.
This highly sought-after and long-gestating figure is now looking to release sometime over the summer.
