Could the MCU’s Wolverine be recast with an Asian actor slipping into the yellow spandex?
Who will be the next Wolverine? There have been plenty of actors through the years who have played comic book characters. But there are only a select few that have become iconic for these roles. Lynda Carter and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Christopher Reeve as Superman, Michael Keaton, and Christian Bale as Batman. Heath Ledger as Joker, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America. Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther. And then there’s Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
HUGH JACKMAN
Of these actors, Jackman played his respective character the longest. In a career spanning two decades, he portrayed Wolverine in nine movies over seventeen years (2000-2017). How does Kevin Feige top that? Which actor could he possibly cast to match or exceed our expectations for an MCU version of Logan?
Well, I have an idea. An undoubtedly controversial one, that could give the MCU a chance to craft their own version of Logan. In a way that is entirely different than Hugh Jackman’s iconic portrayal. And it stems around the sudden debut of a fictional Marvel city in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier; Madripoor.

MADRIPOOR
In the epic Disney+ series we were taken to Madripoor to meet the Power Broker and introduce them into the MCU. Madripoor also happens to be an important destination for Wolverine. Considering that Madripoor is an island in Southeast Asia Kevin Feige should subvert expectations and make the MCU Wolverine Southeast Asian.
Considering that the X-Men are predominantly white in the comics and the movies the MCU version will undoubtedly be more diverse. And that means a lot of these characters are going to be recast with different ethnicities. I think the prospect of a Southeast Asian Logan would undoubtedly give Marvel Studios a chance to forge their own path. While also providing a new look of the character we haven’t seen before. Because honestly, if we get an expected white actor to play Logan we’re always going to compare him to Hugh Jackman’s portrayal. With an Asian actor playing Logan, he has the chance to make this character his own and I love the prospect.
Do you think Logan should be recast with an Asian actor? Or is that notion nothing more than a character assassination? Leave a comment in the section below. We love hearing from you.
