I don’t know what it is with cookbooks devoted to certain franchises. But I love them. From the ‘Wonder Woman‘ cookbook through to ‘Firefly‘. ‘Back To The Future,‘ and ‘The Walking Dead‘, all are great books to own. But, of course, nothing can really beat a ‘Star Wars’ cookbook. There’s just something so satisfying making a treat from a galaxy far, far away. And now, there is a brand new cookbook out to tempt us all.

‘Star Wars: Galactic Baking-The Official Cookbook Of Sweet And Savory Treats From Tatooine, Hoth, And Beyond‘ is another terrific addition to the collection. Boasting recipes that will make even a Bantha’s mouth water, they are perfect for the ‘Star Wars’ fan or for those looking to cook something a little different. Featuring sections such as ‘Desert Worlds‘, ‘Frozen Worlds‘, ‘Green Worlds‘, ‘Cities And Space Stations‘, and ‘Swamp, Volcano, And Mineral Worlds‘, there is something for everyone to try.
INTRODUCING THE RECIPES
During the introduction, we are given details on how the recipes are to be approached. ‘Lightspeed Recipe‘ means the prep time for the dish is 30 minutes or less. ‘Dark-Side recipes‘ means the food will be a rich and indulgent treat. While ‘Light-Side Recipes’ means the food is more on the healthier side. With the addition of whole grains or less sugar or calories than the others, these are a more healthy option. And with the instruction to get out the blue milk and Mudhorn eggs alongside the baking materials we will need, it’s away we go!
DESERT WORLDS
We start with ‘Desert Worlds‘. It is here where we will discover such delights as ‘Bantha Blue Butter Sandwich Cookies’. ‘Chance Cube Cakes’, ‘Rancor Claws’, and ‘Sith Cookies’. The ‘Bantha Blue Butter Sandwich Cookies’ look tasty and easy to make. The ingredients are All-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, a large egg, vanilla extract, blue food coloring gel, rainbow sprinkles, and vanilla or birthday cake-flavored ice cream. The recipe will make around 20 sandwich cookies that will be perfect with a nice glass of blue milk.
‘Rancor Claws’ contains Almond paste, ground almonds, granulated sugar, chocolate-hazelnut spread, egg white, almond extract, all-purpose flour, two sheets of puff pastry, an egg, water, coarse sugar, and sliced almonds. These will make eight fluffy pastries that will melt in the mouth and will be a great side dish to a cup of caf. The section contains eleven recipes for you to try out and amaze your family and friends.
FROZEN WORLDS
We discover a chill in the air as we come to ‘Frozen Worlds‘. Here we will discover seven recipes including my personal favorite ‘TIE Fighter Ice Cream Sandwiches’. This recipe is more involved than many others, taking around six hours to make. It will make around ten ice cream sandwiches. For this delightful recipe, you will need unsalted butter, chocolate-hazelnut spread, granulated sugar, baking powder, a large egg, whole milk, vanilla extract, all-purpose flour, semisweet chocolate chips, shortening, and either chocolate, mint chip, or chocolate chip ice cream. The recipe takes so long as you are required to make the TIE Fighters wings with most of the ingredients. But the results are marvelously tasty and decadent.
Taking slightly less time to make but equally involving is the ‘R2-D2 Ice Cream Cake’. This will make you a cake that will give you roughly twelve slices. It is the dome of the droid that you will be making. For this cake, you require large eggs, vegetable oil, all-purpose flour, baking powder, vanilla extract, granulated sugar, powdered sugar, blue food color spray, silver food color spray, vanilla ice cream, a chocolate sandwich cookie, red gumdrop, gray frosting, and silver dragees. Although it’s a lot of hard work, the result will leave your family and guests with open mouths at what you have accomplished.
GREEN WORLDS
We now warm up a bit as we land on ‘Green Worlds‘. Here, we will be treated to delightful fare such as ‘Wicket Moon Pies’, Mon Mothma’s Mini Focaccia’, ‘Life Day Cake’, and ‘Loth-Cat Kibble’ among the twelve recipes. ‘Life Day Cake’ is a variation on a traditional fruit cake but tastes divine. ‘Mon Mothma’s Mini Focaccia’ are exactly as they sound, mini Focaccia bread. For this, you will need all-purpose flour, active dry yeast, salt, granulated sugar, garlic powder, dried Italian seasoning, warm water, olive oil, grape tomatoes, mini sweet peppers, green onions, chopped fresh herbs (parsley, basil, rosemary and/or thyme), pitted black or green olives, and grated parmesan cheese. This will make you six mini Focaccia which is delicious.
‘Loth-Cat Kibble’ though is perfect for a ‘Star Wars.’ movie marathon. The perfect snack that you can’t get in the movie theatre, the devilishly tasty treats are made from peanut butter chips, chocolate chips, butter, salt, natural peanut butter, peanut butter flavor crunchy corn and oat cereal, regular crunchy corn, and oat cereal, and powdered sugar. A great movie-watching snack for those times when the Sarlaac Pit eats Boba Fett.
CITIES AND SPACE STATIONS
It is time for us to travel once again, into the clouds of Bespin. And into the space stations parked across the galaxy. We have arrived at the ‘Cities And Space Stations‘ section. Among the eight recipes here, we will discover ‘Proton Torpedos’ and ‘Carbonite Cakes’. You’ll never miss the exhaust port again with the ‘Proton Torpedos’. A simple little recipe that will produce between six to eight cones. For this, you require six to eight large sugar ice cream cones, a box of yellow cake mix, orange candy melts, green candy melts, and orange and green mini candy-coated chocolates.
‘Carbonite Cakes’ have far more ingredients involved. But are perfect in trying to help you avoid hibernation sickness. For these, you’ll need vegetable oil, all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, Large eggs, lemon yogurt, fresh lemon juice, finely grated lemon zest, black paste food coloring, honey, and gold luster dust. This will make you seven cakelets that everyone will love.
SWAMP, VOLCANO, AND MINERAL WORLDS
We arrive at our final section. In ‘Swamp, Volcano And Mineral Worlds’, we will encounter five tasty treats to attempt. Among these are ‘Swamp Vines’ and ‘Dagobah Bog Pie’. For ‘Swamp Vines’, the ingredients will make thirty-six cookies. For this, we will need semisweet chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, dark green candy melts, crispy chow mein noodles, salted dry-roasted peanuts, and tiny rainbow marshmallows. A great little no-bake recipe.
‘Dagobah Bog Pie’ sounds horrendous but is a delightful and tasty pie. The recipe will make a pie that will give you between eight to ten servings. For this, the requirements are nonstick cooking spray, unsalted butter, thin chocolate wafers, chocolate ice cream, coffee ice cream, thick hot fudge topping, plain sugar cookies, leaf green gel food coloring, semisweet chocolate chips, chocolate jimmies, and optional gummy frogs. This is a delicious sweet that will have your guests asking for more.
VERDICT
