Does one of Loki’s Easter Eggs hint at a return of Corey Stoll’s Yellowjacket in Ant-Man And The Wasp Quantumania?
Brace yourselves Ant-Man fans. We have news from the Quantum Realm! Moments after the credits began to roll on the penultimate episode of Loki, Easter Eggs were the talk of social media. Thor’s Hammer and Thanos’ Copter were the obvious choices. But the eagle-eyed among us spotted something that may have a major impact on the Ant-Man threequel.
After being pruned and transported into the void, Loki finds himself at the end of time. What’s more, as the camera pulls back and he takes in his surroundings something is revealed on the desolate landscape. Strategically placed on the left side of the shot is a giant helmet – belonging to…YELLOWJACKET. Now, for those of you wondering about the relevance of this discovery; the last we saw of the Ant-Man villain, he had just been defeated and banished into nothingness. Doomed for all time. Or so we thought!
YELLOWJACKET RETURNS?
Earlier this year, Evangeline Lilly fuelled speculation that Corey Stoll might be making a comeback in Ant-Man And The Wasp Quantumania; after she tagged him in an Instagram post about the movie’s script. And now Yellowjacket’s helmet appears in the void. Ordinarily, this tidbit of information would be considered as Marvel just having a little fun. But, when you consider the fact that the TVA is said to operate outside of time (in the Quantum Realm); the full weight of this discovery is clear.
With Yellowjacket forever shrinking through time and space, did he ultimately end up in the void? Albeit far larger than he went in! Did he survive the ordeal and escape incarceration? Let’s hope so. Because the void is a place of infinite possibilities.
THREEQUEL
Obviously, this is far from confirmation, but it would be sensational to see Darren Cross make an unexpected return in Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man threequel. And with Loki promising to have major ramifications for the Multiverse, who would bet against it? Especially if Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) is pulling the strings. Now that would be a sequel to behold!
All will be revealed soon. The season finale of Loki will release this Wednesday on Disney Plus. Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania stings the box office on February 23, 2023.
