One ring to rule them all. Amazon’s Lord Of The Rings series takes us back to The Shire on September 2nd, 2022
Get ready to return to The Shire because Amazon’s Lord Of The Rings series finally has a release date. But the fun doesn’t end there because the streamer has also dropped the first image from the show. And it looks breathtaking! So grab yourself some Lembas Bread and a flagon of ale and check it out:
The series will explore the fabled Second Age of Middle-Earth’s history. Beginning in a time of relative peace, thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books, the series follows a stellar cast of characters as they tackle the re-emergence of evil across Middle-Earth. And along with this spectacular image from the show, Amazon also revealed a release date for the series. Lord Of The Rings kicks off on September 2, 2022, with new episodes available weekly. The series will stream in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
“The journey begins September 2, 2022, with the premiere of our original The Lord of the Rings series on Prime Video,” said Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios. “I can’t express enough just how excited we all are to take our global audience on a new and epic journey through Middle-earth! Our talented producers, cast, creative, and production teams have worked tirelessly in New Zealand to bring this untold and awe-inspiring vision to life.”
Headling the ensemble cast is Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani.
The series has wealth of visionary talent behind the camera including showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay. Joining them are executive producers Lindsey Weber, Callum Greene, J.A. Bayona, Belén Atienza, Justin Doble, Jason Cahill, Gennifer Hutchison, Bruce Richmond, and Sharon Tal Yguado. Alongside co-executive producer Wayne Che Yip, director Charlotte Brändström, and producer Christopher Newman.
RETURN TO MIDDLE-EARTH?
Although we’ve been treated to extended editions of The Lord Of The Rings movies and Hobbit movies, I am more than ready to return to the Shire. Fans have been yearning to learn more about the Second Age of Middle-Earth. And Amazon appears to be knocking this series out of the park. And if the rest of the series looks half as good as this first look image, we are in for one helluva adventure.
